"Mebaru," a women's fishing group, was formed by the wives of fishermen in Tsurumi, Saiki City, a fishing town.

"Gomadashi" is a local condiment made by grilling exceptionally fresh fish, grinding it with sesame seeds, and finishing it off with soy sauce. The fragrant aroma of sesame seeds, combined with the subtle umami of the fish, is sure to whet your appetite.

Saeki's "Gomadashi" was selected as one of the "100 Best Local Dishes of Rural, Mountain, and Fishing Villages" by the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries in 2007, and as one of the "100-Year Foods" by the Agency for Cultural Affairs in 2021. It is a highly acclaimed product that people all over Japan enjoy as a "taste of home that they want to try and share with others."

Examples of dishes: Gomadashi udon, Gomadashi croquettes, Gomadashi mayonnaise toast, Gomadashi bagna cauda, Gomadashi grilled rice balls, cream pasta, etc.
