☆Passion fruit from Miyazaki Prefecture

Miyazaki Nagatomo Farm Co., Ltd. in Miyazaki City has cultivated and improved 10 different varieties of seedlings, including Rubistar and Summer Queen types, over eight years to create a sweet and delicious passion fruit that is perfectly suited to the climate of Miyazaki.

☆ How to eat passion fruit

① Simply rinse it lightly with water, cut off the stem about 1-2 cm from the top, and eat the flesh and seeds with a spoon.

*The peel is not edible.

② Add to syrup

❶ Remove the pulp, add a small amount of water and sugar, and heat in a pot.

❷ Heat at 85℃ for about 3 minutes without boiling, then let it cool, pour it into gauze, and squeeze out the excess liquid.

*Be careful not to boil it, as this will cause the aroma to dissipate.

~Syrup arrangements~

A: Juice

Mix sparkling water and passion fruit syrup to your liking.

*Adding honey to adjust the sweetness is recommended.

B: Cocktail

Mix 30% shochu with 60% sparkling water and 10% passion fruit syrup.

*Adding the fruit pulp with the seeds as a topping gives it a stylish look, similar to tapioca pearls.

☆ Characteristics of passion fruit

① Its greatest appeal is its rich aroma.

Its fragrance is among the best of all fruits. It has a refreshing and elegant scent.

② Rich in vitamins

It is rich in beta-carotene (vitamin A), which boosts immunity, vitamin B6 (folic acid), which helps in amino acid metabolism, and vitamin C, which has antioxidant properties.

☆ Perfect for eating

When the skin turns a dark brown and wrinkles appear on the surface, it's ready to eat.

☆How to save

Store in a plastic bag or similar container in the vegetable compartment of the refrigerator.

If you want to store it for a long period of time, freezing is recommended.

*Freeze the fish once wrinkles begin to appear on the surface.

*When ready to eat, transfer to the refrigerator and allow to thaw naturally.
