Barracuda have a high water content, resulting in soft flesh and easily removable scales. Their skin has a distinctive flavor, and while their flesh is mild, it's fatty and considered to have a strong umami taste among white fish.

The recommended way to eat it is grilled with salt. It's also delicious fried, as sashimi, or dried.
