"Butter Mochi Sable" from Senshudo (Iwate Prefecture) (Friday, May 22, 2026)

The souvenir shop at "Michi-no-Eki Kitagawa Hayuma" has started selling "Butter Mochi Sable" from Senshudo in Iwate Prefecture.

We've taken the popular "Marusen Butter Mochi," known for its gentle sweetness and chewy texture thanks to the flavors of butter and egg yolk, and wrapped it in a sable cookie dough before baking. The chewy, elastic texture of the butter mochi, which is kneaded to be as soft as gyuhi (a type of mochi), and the soft, moist texture of the fresh sable cookie create a new type of fresh sable cookie with two different delicious flavors that spread in your mouth.

For extra chewiness, microwave (after removing from the bag) for 10-15 seconds before serving!
